The System Overview
Magic Landscaping, a leading design/build firm servicing northern New Jersey, had a story to tell. Drew, the owner, needed to convey his unique approach to high-end, design-forward landscaping in a way that was genuine and visual. The goal? To attract more of the right prospects using emotion-led marketing and close them into customers with a more efficient sales process.
Website CMS Migration
When we kicked off, the existing Magic website was built using a troublesome, difficult to work with platform. Because we would rather allocate our client’s budgets on efforts that deliver real business results, rather than billing hourly for simple updates that should be 3x faster to make, we moved Magic to the modern, integrated Content Management System (CMS) that we use for all our clients—Squarespace. The perfect foundation for growth.
Building the Content
Competition is brutal today for design/build firms. To succeed, you need to truly stand apart. By way of monthly video shoots covering completed projects, as well as those under construction, the Halstead team worked closely with Magic to capture the essence of what truly made them company different from the competition. By beginning to build a library of video content, we were investing in the best way to sell projects — with stories.
Reaching the Right Prospects
With the necessary content to fuel the effort, our social ads team created strategic paid campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. Magic took over the local newsfeeds and began to capture more of the right kind of leads like never before according to Magic owner, Drew Shepherd. Along with countless other targeting demographics, we implemented campaigns that targeted both small and large projects for those audiences close to their shop, and only larger projects as the distance increased since they were willing to travel for.
Personalizing the Sales Process
With the Magic brand saturating the desirable local service areas, we set sites on the sales process. We created a series of landing pages on the Magic website designed for each stage of the sales process. Each featured an online scheduling system that allowed potential customers to book their own initial phone consultations, on-site meetings, and design reveals. The pages featured relevant content to their journey, as well as critical information on how best to prepare for their upcoming meeting. The leads felt the love, while Magic benefited from never seen before efficiency.

Telling the Story of Magic
Through some co-op opportunities with manufacturer, Unilock, as well as standalone efforts, Halstead worked with Magic to tell the story behind the projects they design and build. Capturing interviews, drone fly-throughs, and dynamic remixes of content fill newsfeed and fuel the ongoing social advertising efforts on Instagram and Facebook.
